Our Impact
Since its charter in 1957, the Ipswich Lions Club has proudly served the Ipswich community with dedication, compassion and integrity. Our members are passionate volunteers who contribute their time, skills and energy to make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
Each year, the club undertakes a variety of service and fundraising activities that directly benefit individuals, families and community organisations across the region. From building infrastructure such as the Lions Lookout Tower and supporting people living with disability, to providing vision screenings, sponsoring youth programs and coordinating emergency relief efforts, our impact is both broad and meaningful.
Our Causes
At Ipswich Lions Club, we are proud to be part of the global Lions movement — working together to build stronger, healthier, and more compassionate communities both locally and around the world.
We align our efforts with the eight Lions International Global Causes, each representing an area where Lions can make a powerful and lasting impact:
Vision
We support the prevention and treatment of vision loss through initiatives such as community eye screenings, the provision of glasses, and support for research into eye health and diseases.
Diabetes
We raise awareness about diabetes, promote education around prevention and management, and support individuals and families affected by the disease.
Hunger
We help combat food insecurity by providing food relief, supporting local food banks, and promoting better access to nutritious food.
Childhood Cancer
We stand with children and families facing childhood cancer by supporting research, offering practical assistance, and raising awareness of this critical issue.
Environment
We take action to protect and restore the environment through tree planting, clean-up events, recycling programs, and conservation education.
Disaster Relief
We respond quickly when disaster strikes, providing emergency aid such as food, water, shelter, and medical supplies, as well as supporting long-term recovery efforts.
Youth
We invest in the next generation through leadership development, educational scholarships, and programs that empower young people to grow, lead, and serve.
Humanitarian Efforts
We provide practical assistance to vulnerable individuals and communities, promote peace and understanding, and support grassroots initiatives that uplift those in need.
In addition to these global causes, Ipswich Lions is deeply committed to serving the local Ipswich community. From supporting Lions Assistance Dogs and local schools, to recognising volunteers and hosting community events, our service is shaped by local needs and delivered with care.
